A STORY THAT
The history of our company started in 1918 in Castelo Branco, when the couple Santiago dedicated themselves to breed 300 sheep that produced around 50 litres of milk per day.
Celebrating this year 100 years of history in the production of national cheese, Queijos Santiago presents more than 70 products in the market and it is proud to be the unquestionable market leader in the fresh cheese line as well as a reference in the cured cheese line, specifically with regional products.
With five factories throughout Portugal - Montemuro, Palmela, Monforte, Torres Vedras, Abrantes and a Logistics Centre in Venda do Pinheiro, Queijos Santiago is responsible for the picking, production, packing and distribution of all its products, what allows it to guarantee the maximum quality of the cheese that gets to the Portuguese table.
A tradition allied to the quality that starts in the rigorous selection of our raw materials that come from a wide range of regional milk producers that are supported by Queijos Santiago through specialized technicians.
This quality has already been certified; the branch offices of the group were the first dairy product companies national wide to be certified accordingly to the NP EN ISO 9001:2008 norms in 2003, in 2008 to the NP EN ISO 22000:2005 norms to management systems of food security and in 2016 to the norm FSSC 22000 Food Safety System Certification Standard.
In terms of flavour, the knowledge of Queijos Santiago’s tradition is present in all its variety of products. From the intense taste of purely cured cheese to the smooth characteristics of blended cheese, through the variety of fresh cheese in which Queijos Santiago is leader, with its balanced nutritional outline and unforgettable flavour.
